The
Basics | The Questions
Here's
where we'll discuss the basics of the RPG.
"Fanfiction
RPG" Defined
A Fanfiction RPG is a deviant
step from the normal RPGs. It is an RPG where the story of the show
is carried out through chapters. It's as if you were writing a fanfiction
telling the story of the anime through one character's eyes. And, since
all the seperate stories will keep up with each other timeline-wise
(meaning everyone will start at Operation Meteor, and everyone will,
more or less, move on to the next major event together). If you have
any further questions concerning this, ask one of the Gamemasters.
Good
Idea, Bad Idea
It's a good idea to apply
for SoW if:
You've finished watching
the series (Endless Waltz not necessary), you're nearly at the end,
or you've been completely, 100% spoiled to the series.
You have an interest in
writing or already write, and are willing to give the work necessary
to participate in a fanfiction RPG.
It's a bad idea to apply
for SoW if:
You're just starting with
the series, or you're anywhere other than perhaps two episodes before
the end.
If you're looking for a
turn-based Gundam RPG where you create your own pilot/Gundam/etc.
Common
Terms
Gamemasters or GMs
These guys are the poor
slobs that run the RPG. They're the boss. What they say, goes. We're
open to discussion, but if we say something is one way and it'll stay
that way, then arguing with us is pointless.
NPCs
NPC stands for Non-Playable
Character. What that means in this RPG is an NPC is someone who's
in the anime but hasn't been chosen by another player. As long as
you have permission from the GMs, you may use a character that has
not been chosen in your chapters. Understand that you may have to
give up your NPCs if someone applies for them. You do not have to
apply to get NPCs.
Original Characters
In this case, an original
character is someone who's not in the series that you create to spice
up your storyline. They do not take the place of your character, nor
can they be your sole character. An example would be if Noin created
an OZ soldier named Buck Stardust that acted as her assistant. Buck
does not become the sole character she writes for, but is put in chapters
to add a little originality.
Co-Writes
One of the advantages to
an RPG of this time is you get to work closely with some very talented
writers. One way to do this is through co-writes. A co-write is a
chapter where two players collaborate and make a chapter where their
two characters interact. The co-write is a main staple of fanfiction
RPGs, and we highly suggest you do them.
The
Gamemasters
There are two Gamemasters,
or GMs, in this RPG.
Heero
Yuy - Approves applications and does site maintenance.
This is who to
contact if you want to reserve a character as well. If you wish to
contact Heero for this reason, please send the email here.
Zechs
Merquise - Handles the chapter archives and does site maintenance.
This is who to contact if there's a problem with your chapters in
the archives.
Please do not ask if you
can be a GM. If we feel there's a need to have a third GM, we will decide
who on our own and contact that person.
The
Application Process
- Go to the Character
List and choose a character. If the character you want is already
taken, then choose another.
- Next, go to the Application
page and fill out the application. Take your time and think about what
you're writing. One-liners and rushed applications will probably not
be accepted. Elaborate and expand on your ideas. Heero does not
mind being "spoiled" to your storyline. In fact, that's how
she wants it.
- If you think you'll need
more time to write a thorough application, the next option is to reserve
a character. To do this, email
Heero and say which character you'd like reserved. As long as the
character isn't already taken or reserved, it will be reserved for two
to three weeks. Due to the overwhelming response this RPG has gotten,
we really can't hold a character any longer than that.
- Once you've been accepted,
you'll get an email from Heero saying such and welcoming you to the
RPG. After that, you can begin writing for your character. The only
time you can write for a character is when you've been approved.
Submitting
Chapters
- Subscribe to the mailing
list. Once you've been approved, you'll start getting chapters from
other people, as well as be able to post chapters of your own.
- Chapters in HTML format
are very welcome. In fact, use this template
to submit your chapters in HTML. It's best if you upload the page to
your own site, then send the URL out to the mailing list.
- Check the Rules
page for further explanation on format for chapters.
Other
If there is something you'd
like to know that isn't discussed in the FAQ, email
the GMs and we'll answer your questions.

Are
you really the first Gundam Wing fanfiction RPG?
As far as we know. If we're
not, please tell us, so that we can link you as well.
I want to join, but the
character I want to be is taken! What do I do?
Unfortunately, if the character's
already taken, then there's a slim chance you'll ever get him or her.
Apply for a different character instead. There's plenty to choose from!
I want to make up my own
Gundam/mobile suit.
We know in other RPGs that
the creation of Gundams and mobile suits was allowed, but here it is
not. We allow modifications to the current mobile suits, but nothing
more. We try to stick to the original storyline as much as possible
here.
Why don't you allow Endless
Waltz characters?
Not until Endless Waltz airs
on Toonami. Besides, aren't there enough characters as it is?
But, that's not fair! I'm
gonna spam/flood the messageboard and guestbook and say how much that
sucks!
All that will get you is
a ban from our game entirely, so don't do it. We're not very tolerant
of those who're so immature that the only way they can vent their anger
is to act in such a way. If you calmly discuss it with the GMs, we may
change our mind. Don't get yourself banned just because you get upset.
I really like the graphics
I found here. Can I use them on my own site?
Concerning the graphics used
for the site...I'm not sure why, since they were all created for the
RPG. But, the answer is no. I took precious time in my college classes
(yes, while the prof was talking...what're you looking at?) to create
these webpages and graphics, and I'd like them to stay here.
"I"? Who's this?
Omae o korosu.
Oh. Well, how'd you make
the graphics and webpages then?
Graphics were made in Photoshop
5.5, and you might find a pinch of Lightwave
5.6 as well. I honestly don't remember where I got the fonts. I'll
let you know if I find them again.
I also really like the fanart
here. Can I use them on my site?
If you want to use any fanart
here, you MUST contact the artist first. This is mandatory.
Why're you so against plagarism?
Because not only is it morally
and ethically wrong, it's illegal. Half the fun and growth is to create
your own view of the character, not steal from someone else. Thus, the
strict rules for plagarism. This include fanart too.
Can I post my fanfiction
on your site?
The only fanfiction posted
on the site has to do with the RPG, meaning the RPG chapters. Nothing
else can be posted.
What about my fanart?
We accept fanart of any kind,
as long as it's Gundam Wing.
Can I link to you? Will
you link to me?
We are link-free, meaning
you don't have to tell us when you link to us. We like linking to people,
too. If you've got a Gundam Wing site and you want us to link you, just
email us and tell us. On
the next update, you'll find your link on our page.
I have a question that isn't
answered here.
Then email
us and ask us, but make sure your question isn't answered at a different
place on the site, like the Rules section.
Anything else?
Linkin
Park is god.
Really.
You asked. Or Limp
Biskit, if you prefer.
Right.
Ninmu kanryu.
